The Ghana national team are among the top performing sides during the current
FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign and will now zoom in on struggling Chad in Group I on Thursday.
With five wins in six qualifying matches played so far, Ghana currently occupy top spot in Group I, with the likes of Comoros and Madagascar hoping to keep up with the pace set by the Black Stars.
The Black Stars concluded their last qualifying assignments with a 5-0 win against Chad and also, a 3-0 victory against Madagascar during the month of March.
Chad on the other hand recorded six consecutive defeats in Group I, with their most recent qualifier being a 1-0 loss to Comoros at the Berkane Municipal Stadium on 25 March.
With a -14 goal difference to their name, Chad has scored just one goal during their qualifying bid, with Ghana no doubt keeping a keen eye on their defensive woes.
With the tie against Chad in view, Ghana coach Otto Addo believes that his side will take the cautious approach in attempting to qualify for the popular showpiece.
“We are in a good situation and I hope that we can do everything to qualify. We have to take it step by step, we can’t make a mistake,” Addo said.
“A lot of people are talking about the World Cup already, but it’s still a long way.
“The next is the focus on the Chad game and I hope that we can win.”
