Max Verstappen will be keen to win back-to-back races for the first time in the 2025 Formula One World Championship season by clinching the
Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

The Red Bull Racing driver secured a podium spot at the Italian Grand Prix on 7 September, the most recent race on the 2025 Formula One World Championship calendar.
Verstappen started on the first grid and he went on to win the race, which saw him collect 25 points and also achieve his 66th victory and 118th podium in Formula One.
Formula One title ambitions
The former Toro Rosso driver is still placed third in the World Drivers' Championship standings, having accumulated 230 points.
Verstappen is now 63 points behind second-placed Lando Norris of McLaren and 94 points behind leader Oscar Piastri of McLaren.
Why Verstappen could win the 2025 Azerbaijan Grand Prix
The Belgium-born Dutchman has tasted success in Baku as he was crowned champion of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in 2022 and he went on to win the Formula One world title.
Winning the recent Italian Grand Prix has boosted Verstappen's self-belief and he has what it takes to win the Azerbaijan Grand Prix for the second time, and boost his Formula One defence dream.
What did he say?
“We were flying. The car was really enjoyable," Verstappen said after winning the 2025 Italian Grand Prix, where his pole lap was the fastest in Formula One history.
“Just a fantastic execution by everyone, by the whole Team. I think the whole weekend we were on it. And yeah, it’s super enjoyable to win here.
“That was unbelievable, guys. What an unbelievable weekend. We can be proud of that. Well done, everyone.”
