The
2020 Dubai Tennis Championship men's tournament is set to take centre stage between 24 and 29 February.
This will be the 27th edition of the competition which features top tennis players from around the world.
It began life as the Dubai Men’s Open back in 1993, a year in which Karel Novacek won the singles and the pairing of Anders Jarryd and John Fitzgerald the doubles.
Goran Ivanisevic, Juan Carlos Ferrero, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Martina Hingis, Amelie Mauresmo and Justin Henin have all taken part in the competition.
Federer is the defending champion having defeated Greek starlet Stefanos Tsitsipas in last year's final. But, he has withdrawn from the tournament due to injury.
Tsitsipas has made his intentions known heading into this year's tournament as he eyes more success.
“I feel like my game is getting better over time, and I believe I’m really close on being crowned a Grand Slam champion,” Tsitsipas said after his ATP Finals victory.
“I know these are strong words that I say, but I do feel like I belong to be there.”
“For me, that’s a really difficult task to do for players, to be able to beat them in these Grand Slams, because it’s the best-of-five format and it just gives them more chances to stay in the match," he added.
"I think if things were best-of-three, it could have been much more different when it comes to Grand Slam champions over the years.”
