Villarreal and Athletic Bilbao are set for a thrilling clash at Estadio de la Ceramica on the evening of Tuesday 22 December 2020, kick-off is at 21:00. The match is one of 10 spread over 22-23 December as part of Matchday 15 in the
2020-21 LaLiga season.
Villarreal extended their unbeaten run across all competitions to 17 matches with a 3-1 win at Osasuna on December 19. Gerard Moreno (two) and Fer Nino scored the goals for the Yellow Submarine as they continue to impress in LaLiga.

"It is a very important and well-worked victory," said Villarreal manager Unai Emery. "We dedicate it to Vicente Iborra as a reference player in the dressing room and in the game. The team has worked well, they have been diminished and we have made a fairly complete game with maturity and work."
Athletic come into the match on the back of a 2-0 home win over Huesca on Friday 18 December, with goals from Kenan Kodro and Unai Nunez breaking a four-game winless streak.
"We have many games during the week and every three days ahead," said Kodro. "These three points are gold for us because we distance ourselves a little from the relegation zone. Now it's time to think about the Villarreal game and try to win it."

In head-to-head stats, Villarreal and Bilbao have met in 42 matches across all competitions since 1998. The Yellow Submarine have claimed 17 wins compared to 13 for Los Leones, while 12 games have been drawn.
Athletic took four points off Villarreal in the teams' league meetings last season, with a 0-0 draw at Estadio de la Ceramica in November 2019 followed by a 1-0 win at San Mames thanks to a second-half penalty from Raul Garcia.
