Andrew Landry will be hoping to win the 2022 John Deere Classic for the first time in his career when he tees off at the TPC Deere Run.

The American golfer, who turned professional after graduating from the University of Arkansas in 2009, competed in last year's John Deere Classic and finished 64th.

Landry's best performance in the current season came at the 2021 Sanderson Farms Championship where he finished fourth in October last year.

The Texas-born star has won two PGA Tournaments so far - clinching the 2018 Valero Texas Open for his first PGA Tour victory as he defeated Trey Mullinax and Sean O'Hair in the playoff.

Two years later, Landry won The American Express in La Quinta, California and this was his second PGA Tour victory.

On the 17th tee of the final round, Landry, who had once led by six, was tied for the lead and he then birdied holes 17 and 18 to win the tournament by two strokes over Abraham Ancer.

The Austin-based star has missed the cut in his last seven tournaments including the recent 2022 Travellers Championship and he will be determined to end his two-year wait for a trophy in Illinois.

“Once I started pushing myself to get tournament ready, things got worse,” Landry said about his injury problems earlier this year.

“I went to a different surgeon to get a second opinion. He told me to take two weeks off, then we’d start physical therapy, then work on stretches and building strength. It seems to be working.

“I have always slept on my side with my hands above my head. Or my back with hands above my head. Or my stomach with hands over my head," he added.

"Evidently, that’s part of the problem. So is hitting thousands of balls for so many years. I have to dial that back.”

D.A Weibring and Steve Stricker are the most decorated golfers in the history of the John Deere Classic having won it a record three times each.
