Sweden's perfect record at
Euro 2025 will come under threat when they face England in the quarter-finals at the Stadion Letzigrund on Thursday, July 17.
The Blagult won all three of their matches in Group C to clinch top spot ahead of Germany, whom they beat 4-1 on July 12 to maintain their 100 per cent start in the tournament.
Peter Gerhardsson's side edged Nordic neighbours Denmark 1-0 first up and ran out comfortable 3-0 victors over Poland before they conceded their first goal against the Germans in a comeback win.
Sweden have an impressive record in the UEFA Women's Championship despite only lifting the trophy once, in 1984, as they've progressed to the knockout stages in each of their 12 appearances and reached the final again in 1987, 1995 and 2001.
The Lionesses bounced back in stunning fashion after suffering a 2-1 defeat to France in their opening game, dispatching the Netherlands 4-0 before routing neighbours Wales 6-1 to advance to the last eight.
Sarina Wiegman's side, who won their maiden title in 2022 after beating Germany 2-1 in the final, have the second-best goal difference (+8) in Switzerland, which only bettered by Spain (+11).
Gerhardsson was pleased to see his players take their chances against Germany and believes the massive support they have gained in Zurich could be a boon.
"We knew we could get chances as their backline was so high, but we didn't have as many chances as against Denmark and Poland, and sometimes that determines a game," Gerhardsson said.
"Sometimes you need different ways to attack and defend, and we knew against these opponents, counterattack would be very important.
"I have never as a national coach experienced the kind of support we had today. It feels great that we are playing here again on Thursday, it's almost like home-field advantage."
Wiegman praised her players for stepping up against the Dragons and was delighted to see them gel once more after she named the same team that defeated the Dutch.
"I'm really happy we are through. It was a very hard group. Losing the first game there is so much urgency to win against the Netherlands and do well against Wales. The team just showed up today," Wiegman said.
"It is really good to see that we created so many chances. You can see the connections. It is nice to see more players who can score goals and that they keep doing things together.
"This is an intense tournament, and we played a top-level game straight away. Of course, you want to win the game and think of who's next. When it is necessary, the players are ready to step in and step up for the team."
