2025-26 Italian Serie A

Matchday 3

AC Milan v Bologna

San Siro

Milan, Italy

Sunday, 14 September 2025

Kick-off is at 18h45

AC Milan will be keen to build on their first win of the 2025-26 Serie A season when they lock horns with Bologna at the San Siro on Sunday, September 14 in the late kick-off.

The Rossoneri got their campaign up and running with a 2-0 victory over Lecce on August 29, having slipped to a disappointing 2-1 defeat at the hands of newly-promoted Cremonese six days earlier.

Massimiliano Allegri, who returned to the helm in June after two separate spells at Juventus spanning eight years, sees his team trailing frontrunners Napoli, the Old Lady, Cremonese and Roma by three points in eighth place.

The Rossoblu are behind Milan and Como on goal difference in 10th position as they too bounced back from defeat on the opening weekend.

Vincenzo Italiano's side edged Como 1-0 on August 30 after losing to the Giallorossi by the same scoreline the previous weekend and they are in a five-way tie with the two Milan clubs, Lazio and the Biancoblu.

Bologna's record in this fixture is poor, although they arrested a 17-match winless streak by beating the Rossoneri 2-1 at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara last term.

Allegri hailed the focus of his players to see off the challenge from the Salentians and wants to see more of the same for the visit of Bologna.

"It was important for us to win. We played a good game. In my opinion, we conceded two–three chances where we weren't really in danger, but we should have handled them better. Winning today was important to forget the defeat against Cremonese," the Italian said.

"Matches have to be won on the pitch, it's not as if wearing the Milan shirt guarantees victory. Tonight the team played with great humility and focus, and that's what must carry us forward."

Italiano paid tribute to the home fans for spurring his players on against Como and was pleased with the intensity on display on the pitch.

"Como kept possession well and was difficult to put pressure on; they're tough, but we were consistently good at cutting off passing lanes and not conceding," the German-born Italian said.

"I liked our approach; we always played with rhythm and incredible intensity. I'm happy: we start again with a win and a clean sheet. We want to keep fuelling the enthusiasm of our fans; the connection with them is incredible, and the atmosphere in the stadium is amazing."
