Spurs defeated Manchester United 6-1 before the international break to move up to sixth spot on the Premier League standings.

Jose Mourinho was surprised by the margin of victory but the Spurs manager will now be hoping that his team can break their duck on home soil following defeat to Everton and a draw to Newcastle United in their opening two games at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season.

“Very good. Very impressive. Not a surprise for me," said Mourinho. "The result was a surprise obviously, you can’t expect to come here and to win 6-1.

“It’s something that happens once in a lifetime.

For the fans

“I can come here 20 times. I don’t believe that I’m going to win again 6-1. An incredible victory, but the most important thing is three points.

“We managed to do it twice. We lost points at home against Everton, we got them away at Southampton. We lost points against Newcastle at home, we got them at Old Trafford.”

West Ham also have their tails up following another impressive win last time out. The Hammers followed a 4-0 thumping of Wolves with a surprise 3-0 win over Leicester City, having started the season with back-to-back defeats.

Spurs won the corresponding encounter 2-0 last season following a 3-2 win at London Stadium in the reverse fixture, in what was Mourinho's first game in charge of the North London club.
