Valtteri Bottas out to end Lewis Hamilton’s streak

2019 Formula 1 season Round 8

French Grand Prix

Circuit Paul Ricard, Le Castellet

Sunday 23 June

Valtteri Bottas will be out to end the winning streak of Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton when the 2019 Formula 1 season continues with the French Grand Prix held at the Circuit Paul Ricard, Le Castellet on Sunday 23 June.

Bottas endured a difficult weekend at the last round in Montreal, Canada, where he struggled to match the pace of Hamilton and the Ferraris of Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc.

Valtteri Bottas will be looking for a return to winning form

The Finnish driver came home in fourth place – his lowest finish of 2019 and the first time that a Mercedes driver has not stood on the podium this season.

Bottas will seek an improvement at the Circuit Paul Ricard, though the French venue was not a happy hunting ground for him last season: the ‘Silver Arrows’ pilot started on the front row but finished a distance seventh and watched on as teammate Hamilton won the first French GP since 2008.

Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton has won the last three races

This time around Bottas will be eager to get the better of the Brit and eat into the 29-point deficit at the top of the Drivers’ Championship standings. Anything less and he may already have to start settling for second place behind his illustrious teammate.
