Denver Nuggets will be looking to clinch top spot in the Western Conference when they face Memphis Grizzlies at the FedExForum in the final game of the regular season on the evening of Sunday, April 14.

The race to see who will finish as the top seeds for the playoffs from the West is set to go down to the wire as the Nuggets share the lead with Minnesota Timberwolves, while Oklahoma City Thunder are a game back in third place.

Michael Malone's team have won four of their last five games to remain neck-and-neck with the Timberwolves and the Thunder after the trio exchanged the lead on numerous occasions in recent weeks.

Denver beat Utah Jazz 111-95 on April to make it back-to-back wins, with Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray scoring 28 points each to keep them in touch with their rivals.

Murray featured for 27 minutes in his fourth game since returning from a knee injury and he shot 11-for-20 from the field and had four steals, leading to praise from Malone.

"He was the defensive player of the game - four steals, three blocks and five deflections. He took the challenge of guarding some of their bigger players and wanted that challenge," Malone said.

The Grizzlies have endured a disappointing season after being ravaged by injuries which played a huge part in their failure to reach the playoffs.

Taylor Jenkins' team won the Southwest Division in 2022 and 2023, but their injury struggles in 203-24 means they are destined to finish fourth this time around.

A 102-87 defeat to San Antonio Spurs on April 10 was their second loss on the spin after winning the previous three games as they fell flat in the third quarter, going 9-25 and missing seven of their eight 3-pointers.

Trey Jemison, who jointly led the scoring for Memphis alongside Scotty Pippen Jr. and Brandon Clarke with 14 points each, admitted the offence just couldn't get going after half-time when they trailed by just one point (49-48).

"Our offense just got slow," Jemison said. "Transition killed us. They were getting dunk after dunk after dunk. That's a momentum killer."
