Round 14, Turkish Grand Prix

Valtteri Bottas will look to keep the drivers' title battle alive when the 2020 Formula One World Championship heads to Turkey for Round 14 at the Intercity Istanbul Park circuit on Sunday 15 November.

Bottas has two wins and a further eight podium finishes in 2020, but he has once again been completely overshadowed by his Mercedes teammate, Lewis Hamilton. So much so, that the British driver holds an 85 point advantage over the Finn at the top of the standings.

Bottas, to avoid the embarrassment of having his teammate claim the title with three races to spare, must finish ahead of Hamilton at the Turkish GP this weekend.

And even that may not suffice: Bottas needs to outscore Hamilton by eight points to take the fight to the next round in Bahrain, meaning that even a win without the extra point for fastest lap would not be enough if the championship leader came home in second place.

Rather than dwell on his diminishing title chances, Bottas has explained that he is happy to be part of a Mercedes team which has already wrapped up a record seven straight manufacturers' championships.

"I’m really proud to be a part of this team and thankful for everyone’s hard work and dedication," said the Finn. “It’s well deserved and I’m really happy for everyone at the track, Brackley, Brixworth and Stuttgart. This team keeps pushing and raising the bar and it’s inspiring to work with such a dedicated and driven group,”
