Billy Horschel will be keen to win his second Tour Championship title at the East Lake Golf Club this week (4-7 September).

The American golfer lifted the trophy in 2014 after posting his 12th straight round in the 60s -- a 2-under 68 -- to win the Tour Championship by three shots.

As a result, Horschel also claimed the FedEx Cup and its $10 million bonus and then two days later he became a father for the first time.

Prior to that the 33-year-old golfer had won the 2014 BMW Championship and moved to 23rd in the world rankings.

Horschel has since won the AT&T Byron Nelson in a playoff over Jason Day in 2017 and the Zurich Classic of New Orleans with partner Scott Piercy in 2018.

The 2013 Zurich Classic of New Orleans winner managed to qualify for this year's Tour Championship as one of the top 30 players on the FedEx Cup standings.

Horschel, who is ranked 30th on the FedEx Cup standings, needed some help from Canadian golfer Corey Conners in order to qualify.

The Florida-born player battled to get into the top 30 of the FedEx Cup Playoffs during the final round of the 2020 BMW Championship on Sunday.

Conners' double bogey sent him to seven over for the tournament, tied with Horschel and it also bumped the latter into the season-finale, Tour Championship.

“I knew I could make up a shot and move up a spot with a birdie or if someone above me could move down into my category at plus seven," Horschel said.

"I know that would be beneficial because I saw on 17 I was tied with Adam Long.

“It was really unfortunate. You never want to see something like that happen to anybody; if it turns out that was how I made it to the Tour Championship," he added.

"I’ll probably give him a nice bottle of wine or a good dinner or something.”

The 2020 Tour Championship winner will get $15 million and the runner-up is set to receive $5 million.
