Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Lakers will meet twice between 11 and 17 September in the NBA Western Conference semi-finals.

The Rockets, who are the underdogs, are currently locked at 1-1 with 16-time NBA champions Lakers with five matches left in the seven-match series.

They secured a commendable 112-97 victory in game one, but the Lakers bounced back in game two as they ran out 117-109 winners.

The Rockets have won the NBA title twice in 1994 and 1995, while the Lakers are keen to clinch their maiden title since 2010.

The Lakers booked their place in the semi-finals after thumping Portland Trail Blazers 4-1 in the Western Conference First Round tie last month.

While the Rockers edged out the Oklahoma City Thunders 4-3 in the other Western Conference First Round tie.

Mike D'Antoni, the Rockets coach, feels that his players could play much better ahead of game three with the Lakers' Lebron James having compared the Rockets to the St. Louis Rams' "Greatest Show on Turf.

“Oh we can replicate what we did [in Game one]. I don’t doubt that. I don’t know if they’ll let us replicate it, but [James’ comment] is a nice compliment," D'Antoni said.

"[But] we didn’t play very fast last night, to be honest with you. Defensively, we did. We were flying around. But offensively, we can up our speed a lot more.

"And we’ll need to do that. You know, again, take the compliment. It’s great. But he’ll be coming at us like a freight train tomorrow and we’ve got to be ready to roll.”

The winner between Lakers and Rockets is expected to square off with either Los Angeles Clippers or Denver Nuggets in the conference final.

Milwaukee Bucks are currently leading 3-1 against Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference semi-final tie with three games to go.

While Boston Celtics and the defending champions Toronto Raptors are locked at 2-2 in their Eastern Conference semi-final tie with three matches left.
