Where we left the NBA and what might happen

The 2019/20 National Basketball Association (NBA) campaign, which is the 74th season of the league, remains in limbo.

The regular season was suspended early last month as a result of the coronavirus pandemic which has affected the sporting world.

The current campaign has seen the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers take over in the Western Conference.

Lakers and Clippers are the top two teams in the conference having recorded 49 and 44 victories respectively as they look destined to reach the playoffs.

Lebron James has been very influential for Lakers having clinched three Player of the Week accolades in the Western Conference thus far.

Adam Silver, the NBA commissioner, recently provided an update on the league's Twitter account.

"Essentially, what I've told my folks over the last week is that we just should just accept that, at least for the month of April, we won't be in a position to make any decisions," Silver said.

"And I don't think that necessarily means on May 1 we will be. We miss it badly. To all the families watching this, I know the NBA is a big part of their lives.

"We just want to assure everybody that while we're putting the health and safety of everyone first, we're looking at every possibility to get our players back on the floor and to play NBA basketball again."
