The
2023 Las Vegas National Basketball Association (NBA) Summer League has taken center stage ahead of the 2023/24 season.
What's NBA Summer League?
It is an off-season competition used by NBA teams to test out various summer rosters with rookie, sophomore, and G League affiliate players.
It is held by the NBA at the Thomas and Mack Center and Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas, Nevada on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
The summer league consists of the California Classic, Salt Lake City Summer League, and the Las Vegas NBA Summer League.
Summer League schedule
California Classic which featured six NBA teams concluded on July 5, while Salt Lake City Summer League which had four teams competing came to an end on July 6.
The Las Vegas Summer League started on July 7 and it will come to an end on July 17 as teams finalise their preparations for the new season.
The competition features all 30 NBA including the reigning champions Denver Nuggets who clinched the maiden championship in June 2023.
Competition Format
Number of Games: A total of 76 games will be played, Each team will play at least five games, and Each team will play four games from July 7th-14th.
Four-Team Tournament: After each team plays four games, the top four teams will advance to the playoffs and participate in a semifinal game on July 16th, and the two semifinal game winners will participate in the championship game on July 17th.
The top four playoff seeds will be determined by winning percentage.
Consolation Games: The 26 teams that did not advance to the four-team playoff will play a fifth game on either July 15th or July 16th.
