The Red Devils weren't in action last weekend having received an extended break for their involvement in the Europa League, but did lock horns with Aston Villa in a club friendly which the hosts won 1-0 at Villa Park.

Ole Gunnar Solskjær has struggled to lure new players to the 'Theatre of Dreams' but Donny van de Beek has arrived from Ajax Amsterdam and will provide valuable depth in midfield.

Palace kicked off their Premier League campaign with a 1-0 win over Southampton at Selhurst Park. Wilfried Zaha was on target for the Eagles as they made the ideal start to their campaign.

For the fans

"It was always going to be a tough opening fixture for us, but I am really pleased with how we approached it," said Roy Hodgson.

"I have to take my hat off to our goalkeeper for making a fantastic save, but I am very happy to get off to a good start against a team like Southampton with such good quality."

New signings Eberechi Eze and Michy Batshuayi were not involved from the onset but could start for the club at Old Trafford this weekend.

Palace won the corresponding fixture last season 2-1 thanks to a late winner from Patrick van Aanholt.
