Miami Heat v Detroit Pistons

The Miami Heat will target a decisive victory when they host the Detroit Pistons for a 2020-21 NBA Regular Season game at American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida on the morning of 17 January 2021.

The Heat had a recent game against the Boston Celtics called off due to Covid-19 worries, while the roster was recently decimated by health and safety protocols and injuries. Nonetheless, Heat coach Erik Spoelstra has seen the silver lining in his side's troubles, with youngster Tyler Herro showing off his improvement as a player.

“He’s more than just strictly a catch-and-shoot player,” Spoelstra explained. “He’s very good off the dribble. This is something that he diligently works on every day with his quarterback reads, and it’s not just finishing.

"It’s making the reads on what the scheme is and where the weak side is, and that’s on different coverages based on who you’re playing. I think he’s growing leaps and bounds with that. That just shows you that it’s not just about the shooting with him.”

The Pistons have had a stuttering start to the season, but Jerami Grant has been a major surprise package, racking up the points in big numbers every game.

"We've had a lot of close games thus far, but we're learning as a team," said Grant, whose haul of 223 points in his first nine games with the Pistons is the most in franchise history. "I'm getting more and more comfortable [in the team], everybody has done a good job of making it a little easier [for him to adapt]. We're still a new team, but we're moving in the right direction."
